Black racer-back double layered dress from the Recycle-to-relove collection
(One-off pieces, available online and can be made to order).
Keep the wolf recently caught up with UCA graduate Alice Halliday. Alice is best known for her beautiful lace cape, worn by Florence Welch (known from Florence and the machine)a number one British chart topping sensation. Florence wore the garment at Grass Festival in Queensland, after achieving this designer presence Alice was featured on Vogue online and has contined to make her mark in the fashion world.
Now residing in Ireland, Alice is designing a collection called Recycle-to-relove which she has been focusing on using recycled clothes and household textiles ( purchased from local charity shops) then reinventing them new into more exciting and innovative garments.
Alice told us " I also have an accessories range, including flower rings, earrings, brooches, head bands, wristbands, fascinators, hair combs and waist belts... I make these from a combination of fake flowers, hand made flowers from recycled scraps, vintage swarovski crystals and beads and sequins".
This Easter weekend saw Alice selling her creative pieces at the Absolute Style at Set, a fashion fair in Kilkenny, Ireland. Our favourite accessory is one of her unique headpieces, Alice describes this divine piece as the Purple feather and tulle flamboyant hair band, with beaded flower, Swarovski crystal centered embellishment, for a wedding or ball. Now Alice is currently stocking the accessories in Turquoise Flamingo, a boutique in Cork City.
Alice is still making one off garments, which can be made to order. We love Alice's designs, new and old! Her use of textile designs and perfect usage of hand made accessories along with her incomparable garments is something Keep The Wolf adores and hopes to see more of in the future.
